This doll is named Angharad, a Welsh version of Alice. She is made of composite material and she stands 54cm tall. Angharad means ‘much loved’. Angharad was Gerallt Gymro’s mother, one of the most famous Welsh Latin writers in the twelfth century. Angharad was also the name of the wife of Gruffudd ap Cynan (c. 1055 –1137), sometimes written as Gruffydd ap Cynan, was King of Gwynedd from 1081 until his death in 1137.
